Job Summary
Provides curricula required by the State of West Virginia and bases instruction on adopted curricula for the school. Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies to augment achievement; develops appropriate lessons to teach instructional objectives; plans with consideration of the WV curriculum documents; follows discipline procedures per WV Student Code of Conduct; maintains accurate student records; communicates progress and concerns with students, parents, and co-workers; demonstrates effective classroom management and professional work habits; uses technology to support learning; and demonstrates the ability to create a stimulating and motivating environment for students.
Required Qualifications
- Valid West Virginia Certificate in the area for which applying.
- Strong academic background.
- Demonstrates the ability to create a stimulating and motivating environment for children.
- Knowledge of a variety of teaching strategies to teach students with varying abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively through written and spoken language.
- Proven ability to plan lessons to meet student needs.
- Ability to interpret test data to improve learning.
- Knowledge of Effective School Research as it applies to the position.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with administration, staff, students and public.
- Knowledge of curriculum concepts for the subject matter.
- Understanding of positive classroom behavior.
- Knowledge and/or experience with computers.
- Combination of training and/or experience leading to successful employment.
