Job Summary
Conduct interior and exterior patrols of the customer facility while monitoring employees and visitors for adherence to site procedures. Respond to incidents as instructed by post orders and assist with emergency response, including providing armed escorts and stopping, questioning, and detaining individuals. Perform duties requiring physical exertion such as climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds, and working alone while armed under stress or adverse weather conditions. Maintain stability and sensory acuity to execute safe operations, including the use of site-issued handguns, handcuffs, and intermediate weapons. Pass extensive background checks, physical examinations, and advanced training in use of force and intermediate weapons prior to employment.
Required Qualifications
- Previous Law Enforcement, Military, Retired Law Enforcement, Retired Military or Armed Security
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass extensive background check, including criminal history check, employment and education verification, and meet requirements for access to sensitive information
- Pass all site security requirements including advanced handgun training, use of force and use of intermediate weapons training
- Ability to work extended hours
- Ability to work alone while armed
- Ability to work and perform under stress
- Ability to work in adverse weather
- Ability to provide armed escorts
- Ability to stop, question and detain individuals
- Ability to respond to emergencies with unplanned strenuous physical activity
- Ability to climb stairs in an emergency
- Ability to bend, push, pull and lift 20 pounds for the entire shift
- Ability to sit or stand alone for at least two hours
- Ability to use site issued handgun with dominant and non-dominant hand
- Ability to use handcuffs
- Ability to function in emergencies and unusual environments
- Mental alertness and emotional stability
- Acuity of senses; ability of expression to allow rapid, accurate communication by spoken, written, audible, visible, or tactile signals
- Physique, stamina, motor power, range of motion, and dexterity to allow safe execution of duties
- Distant visual acuity in both eyes shall be correctable to 20/25
- Distant visual acuity in each eye shall be correctable to 20/30
- Near visual acuity in both eyes shall be correctable to 20/30
- Near visual acuity in each eye shall be correctable to 20/35
- Peripheral visual fields 120 or greater
- Color vision adequate to distinguish among red, green, and orange-yellow signal lamps and any other coding required for safe operation
- No hearing loss in the better ear greater than 30 decibels average for speech frequencies 500, 1000, 2000 Hz in better ear
- Auditory acuity equivalent to the above stated requirement of the facility
- No use of medications that while the individual is working, that would incapacitate, alter mental status, judgment or decrease physical or mental response times
- Medical evidence that the condition is controlled with proper medication and/or treatment and/or reasonable accommodations for medical conditions which may impact the ability to perform the essential functions of the job
- Letter of clearance from personal physician attesting that the candidate can perform the essential elements of the job
- Security personnel are required to meet site fitness for duty program standards, including pre-employment testing, post-accident/incident testing, reasonable suspicion or aberrant behavior testing (includes breathalyzer and drug screening)
